A day in the life of a senior at Wake Forest University

After graduation from Wake Forest in May 2025, Joseph Doria III will return home to Oyster Bay, New York, to work for Merrill Lynch as a client service associate. Coming to North Carolina from New York, he did not know anyone at Wake Forest, and he had never lived away from home. “I decided to get out of my comfort zone and experience things that I have never experienced before. I learned to ‘be comfortable being uncomfortable.’ I learned to push myself and do things that I could have never imagined,” he said. This spring, he shared a behind-the-scenes look at his life on campus.

As a finance major and entrepreneurship minor, he spends most of his time in Farrell Hall.

Outside of classes, he works for Campus Rec as an intramural sports supervisor and for Admissions as a tour guide. He is a campus representative for the National Italian American Foundation, treasurer for the Wake Forest Italian Club, and co-founder and CEO of SAFErgy LLC. He is also a President’s Aide for University President Susan R. Wente and was prior president of the Wake Forest Catholic Community.

TA for entrepreneurship class

Joseph is a teaching assistant for Professor Greg Pool’s Startup Lab, an entrepreneurship class held in the Office of Personal & Career Development in Reynolda Hall. During class, he meets individually with students to answer questions and check progress on their business ventures as they prepare for Entrepalooza Pitch Day.

After class, he walks the trail from campus to Reynolda Village for lunch at Theodore’s.

Group project

Returning to campus after lunch, he meets with other students on the terrace of Farrell Hall to discuss a group project for Management Simulation, a business course.

Homework

Joseph works on homework on the terrace of Farrell Hall.

Campus tour

As a tour guide for Admissions, Joseph leads a group of prospective students and their parents on a 90-minute tour of campus. The tour starts at the Byrum Welcome Center and ends on Hearn Plaza.
