Wake Forest University students honored their friend and classmate Janey Thompson by participating in the second annual Jam for Janey Thompson: 3v3 Basketball Tournament on Thursday, April 11, 2025 at the Sutton Center.

Janey Thompson was a second-year student at Wake Forest University who passed away unexpectedly in 2024. A Charlotte native and Myers Park High School alumna, Janey was also a biophysics major who held the Wake Forest Ledford Physics Scholarship, and a proud member of the Physics Honors Society. Outside of academics, Janey's involvement on campus was thorough, as she was a passionate and incredibly valued member of the Women’s Club Basketball Team, a member of Wake Radio, a Delta Delta Delta sister, on the Pre-Dental track, and an avid Wake Forest Athletics supporter.

Combining two of Janey's greatest passions, basketball and physics, this Wake Forest campus initiative aims to commemorate Janey, and raise money to supplement the Ledford scholarship, with aspirations of raising enough money to create a Janey Thompson Physics Scholarship in her name.
