Sets New Records for Money Raised, Teams

Fundraiser Sets Record

The annual Hit the Bricks for Brian fund raising event for cancer research set a new record this year, bringing in $130,115 for the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. That's up from about $83,000 in 2019. More than 1,000 runners on 125 teams ran a combined 7943.82 miles in a virtual race online, competing to run the most miles and raise the most money.

Members of the winning teams were invited to walk the traditional Silent Lap on Thursday evening, in memory of those lost to cancer. They were joined by Wake Forest President Nathan O. Hatch and University Chaplain Timothy Auman.

Time Trials

Teams on campus sent their fastest runners to Hearn Plaza on Wednesday to earn extra points for the fastest lap of the quad.

Closing Ceremony

President Hatch addressed the closing ceremony, kept to 25 participants due to Covid restrictions. Chaplain Tim Auman gave a personal perspective on the event. At the end, the winning teams were given a 2020 Hit the Bricks commemorative brick.
